Considering how bad the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were last year, you would have to consider their 2015 campaign to be one that represented progress. On Thursday night they have an opportunity to keep themselves in the playoff race when they pay a visit to the Edward Jones Dome for a date with the St. Louis Rams, who kind of self-destructed after relatively promising start. This game will get underway at 8:25 PM ET on NFL Network, and as BetAnySports players watch for the action, they can place their wagers on the game in progress using the state-of-the-art software provided by Live Betting Extra.

When it comes to the Rams, they had better get the job done on defense, because the offense has been pitiful. In fact, head coach Jeff Fisher had to make a change, firing offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti after the team had scored just 36 points over a four-game stretch. The replacement is Rob Boras, and although the jury may still be out on how that works, the team did beat Detroit last week by a 21-14 count. Case Keenum, the former Houston Texans quarterback who suffered a concussion a little less than a month ago against Baltimore, lead the team on to second-half touchdown drives that sealed the deal. And Todd Gurley, the sensational rookie running back, had 140 yards, bringing his total to 975 on the year.

But as we mentioned, defense will tell the tale. The Rams are third-best in the NFL when it comes to holding opponents without a touchdown in the red zone, and they know how to get after the quarterback; this team has 36 sacks, led by Aaron Donald, who has more than any other defensive tackle in the league (11). Their problem is that they’ve spent too much time on the field; the opposition has held the ball for an average of 33 minutes and 27 seconds against them.

When BetAnySports USA online Sportsbook patrons first saw Jameis Winston this season, he was throwing all kinds of interceptions against Tennessee, but once he has settled down he has become rather effective. Winston has completed only 58% of his throws, but the Tampa Bay offense has gone three-and-out only 15% of the time, which is third-best in the league. And they are getting an All-Pro season out of Doug Martin, who has had 1214 yards rushing. One area of concern is that the Bucs might be a little thin at the wide receiver spot, because Vincent Jackson, who has averaged 16.5 yards a catch, is out with a knee injury. But Winston’s primary target has been Mike Evans, who’s caught 57 passes.

This might be a bittersweet evening for the Rams, who could very well be in Los Angeles next year. This is the last home game of the season, so expect to hear a lot of talk about that on the air. Can they go out on a positive note?
