The Arizona Cardinals may loom as the biggest threat to the Carolina Panthers in the race to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. And they would love to get some measure of revenge for last season’s humiliating playoff loss, in which they had just 77 yards of offense. On Thursday night they play host to the Minnesota Vikings on NFL Network, with a starting time of 8:25 PM ET.

Thursday night’s game may come down to whether the Vikings can open some holes for one of the greatest running backs of our generation. Adrian Peterson was on quite a roll until he encountered the Seattle Seahawks last week, and things did not turn out so well for him, with 18 yards on eight carries, as the Vikes fell behind early and were buried by a 38-7 count. When you have just nine first downs and 125 total yards, you have some problems to work out, and where the Vikings come up short, at least in the estimation of many BetAnySports Asian-American Sportsbooks observers, is in the air attack.

Teddy Bridgewater has promise, but he also has a long way to go. The second-year man, who was a first-round draft choice out of Louisville, has played through a dozen games and has only eight touchdown passes. This has not become a dangerous team outside of Peterson, and part of it is that Mike Wallace, who was acquired to bring an element that would stretch the field, has not produced (just 30 catches).

Arizona has averaged 15.8 points in the first half, which places it first among all NFL teams in that category. So it becomes important that Minnesota prevent this one from getting out of hand, because that would severely affect the impact Peterson can have. And even if things are close, one has to note the job the Cards did against rookie sensation Todd Gurley of the Rams last week, as they limited him to just 41 yards on nine carries. However, once again, that opponent was behind the eight-ball early.

BetAnySports patrons who are into trends will certainly want to know that the Vikings have not lost a game this season when Peterson goes for over 100 yards, and that Minnesota has covered its last five road games, with four straight-up wins registered. Arizona has also failed to cover a number this season that was over a touchdown, so perhaps these things might point you toward the Vikings.

And there is also the tendency to look toward above-average teams who were embarrassed the week before, as Minnesota was. They often come back with more focused efforts. After 125 yards last Sunday, the whip has unquestionably been cracked. In terms of “incentive,” that works a little, as does the fact that the Vikes are in a dogfight with the Green Bay Packers for the top spot in the NFC North, while Arizona is aiming for a first-round playoff bye, since they hold a three-game lead in the NFC West with four games to go.
