The San Antonio Spurs still have some hope of overtaking the Golden State Warriors and winding up with the best record in the Western Conference. But do they really care? This is a question that always has to be asked regarding this team, because of the philosophy of its coach, Gregg Popovich. He feels like getting home court just for its own sake isn’t necessarily worth wearing out his starters, and who can argue with a guy who has won five NBA championships? So anybody who is wagering on this game at BetAnySports needs to take this into account.

And what we mean by all of this is that Popovich would think nothing of sitting down Tim Duncan, as he did the last time the Spurs visited the Bay Area and were routed by a 120-90 score. He would sit out or give abbreviated playing time to the likes of veterans Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, who both know when it really counts. And he just won’t care all that much about winning. Is this one of those nights?

Whether it is or not, the Warriors should be coming into this game loaded with motivation. Not only have they lost two of their last three home games, which is a big deal when you have previously compiled a 54-game regular season home winning streak, they are also looking to clinch their conference crown, and are after the one-season record of 72 wins, which is held by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. If they win their last four games, Golden State (69-9 SU, 41-34-3 ATS) can surpass that mark.

They may also have a little payback on their minds, as their last meeting with the Spurs didn’t go well, as that was played back in San Antonio on Match 19. The Warriors, the team with the highest Offensive Rating in the NBA, scored just 79 against the team with the highest Defensive Rating. That is their lowest total on the year. And Stephen Curry, who will probably win his second consecutive MVP award, was held to just 4-of-18 from the field. Maybe this offers a glimpse to BetAnySports NBA betting customers as to how the Spurs might be able to do against the Warriors in the playoffs.

In any other season, the focus might squarely be on San Antonio, which is 65-12 straight-up (43-34 ATS). After all, only 18 other teams have ever won that many games in a season. But Golden State’ 24-0 start, accomplished under Luke Walton, who was standing in as Steve Kerr recovered from back surgery, guaranteed that the spotlight would be on the Bay Area. And Curry has been a dominant force, with a league-leading scoring average and a record for three-pointers in a season.

Parker believes that Popovich will use his available players. As we mentioned, to what extent, we don’t know. If they are in this full-bore, we may get a nice preview of a possible Western Conference championship series, which, in the minds of many, will decide the REAL NBA champion.
